Oh you guys. I took time out for Mama on Saturday and went to get my hair cut. I told my stylist "just do what you did last time!" because the last haircut I got was AWESOME (even though the color was a disaster).
I told him how much I loved the asymmetrical long pieces in the front. And he cut it and blew it out and I noticed (out loud) that it was a little longer on one side. So he cut that one side shorter. And then he had to cut the other side shorter.
AND SO ON.
The haircut is a good one, per se, even though I cannot talk myself out of the idea that it is longer on one side. I have gotten SO MANY compliments (a few along the line of "oh wow! I wish I was brave enough to go THAT SHORT!"). But it's too much of a bob ... I prefer more texture in the ends. It's above my chin, which I DO NOT LIKE. It's just too short for me. It requires too much styling and product. If I tuck it behind my ears I look like A BOY. I have a lot of FACE going on so I ... I ... I cannot wait until it grows out a bit. HOW DOES ONE SPEED UP HAIR GROWTH?
I am so perturbed I have made a video to show you all just how short it is in "person."
Look, I realize that part of the deal of having short hair is frequent haircuts, into which we must factor Human Error. We must also factor in that a hair dresser cannot actually see into your brain and cannot actually photocopy a haircut from one visit to the next. I need to embrace Short! Hair! and just roll with it, I know. I have already decided that I am (probably) not going back in to have it "adjusted" in the case that it actually ends up shorter and WORSE.
Obviously, I am not good at being outside my comfort zone. I have a hard time when I actually make the time to "take care of myself" and it backfires and I feel worse afterward. GAH.
So tell me, have you had any hair disasters lately? Because to top it all off? A makeover I did on Hair Thursday in 2008 is being cycled on the front page today. Back then I still had my long, pre-baby (aka FANTASTIC) hair.
And now if you'll excuse me I have leftover Halloween candy to drown my sorrows in.

I have to tell you, I think it looks SUPER adorable. But I totally get that it's short and it doesn't matter how cute everyone tells you it is, it is probably going to feel short and uncomfortable until you get used to it. (But seriously, SERIOUSLY, it's cute!) Get yourself some fun accessories (hell or even just use some bobby pins) to pin some of the front back when you want to get your hair out of your face -- then you don't have to put it behind your ears and you can be all cute and spunky and stuff. OMG, that sounded obnoxious. But you don't look like a boy, you are adorable -- and man, I am so sorry that you have to deal with this. I just know exactly how you feel but *SWEARSIES* you are cute cute cute!!!

OMG, hair disasters, I have had so many. I'll never forget "winning" a raffle in which I was to get my hair cut by a fancy stylist, and I was so excited. I remember her using the scissors in a yanking manner to pull my hair apart instead of cutting, so the ends were all damaged and janky. But I thought maybe that was just what a fancy stylist did. I wasn't in front of a mirror, but on my way, I ran into people who snickered at me. A moment later, I found out why. My hair made a perfect pyramid on my head, with frizzy ends to boot. Then, there was much crying.
I've had the same stylist for decades (she even gave me my 1st job!), but she's recently decided to teach more and has gotten squirrely with her pricing, even if I could set a time with her, but I'm so terrified of a hair nightmare that I've just stopped getting my hair done instead of finding someone else. I'm pretty much becoming Chewbacca, one month at a time.
All that is to say, I totally sympathize with you, and I understand how a haircut you don't like can cast a pall over everything. Hopefully, in 2 weeks, it'll grow a bit and you'll feel better about it. Also, if you do decide to go back, most good stylists will work to fix what you don't like, and you could say just to texturize and not cut the ends (you shouldn't lose any length that way).
Bottom line is that you're still adorable.

I think it's cute. And I'm pretty sure that leftover Halloween candy is good for hair growth! (Or you can just hope it is.)
I got my hair cut to just at my chin once which was when I realized just how square my jaw is (VERY) and decided I would never be doing that again. And that's why I have the same long one length hair all the time and I probably will forever and ever.

You know that you are probably not in fashion when your niece looks at you across the table and says Aunt Becky, will you ever let me straighten your hair? I have had the same haircut/hairstylist since the 80's and get perms and have to have my bangs all fluffed up in the front or I just feel down and deflated. It's not a good day if I can't get the bangs right. I may look funny when I'm in my 80's, but who cares? Do what makes you feel good! You are always super cute. The way hairstyles go, I'll be back in style sometime down the road--I know big bangs will be back. Try it one time for fun--gel, Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine and blow dry your hair upside down and you'll be hooked:) haha

Almost every time I cut my hair short-ish I remember "oh yeah, I don't look very good with short hair." It's a terrible feeling. Honestly though you look cute, even tucked behind the ears.

I know you hate it, but I seriously would-not-lie think it's really cute. Of course, my hair is much shorter than that so obvs I am a FAN of the short, but still, REALLY. CUTE.
And the best thing about hair is that it grows back. xoxoxo

I think it's so super cute. Especially behind the ears! You do not look like a boy. Also I laughed out loud when you said you were going to take prenatal vitamins to grow it out.
I bet you love it in three weeks.

I think it's cute both behind your ears and not. I think you'd look great with even shorter hair - like Hillary's (notraisingbrats, Blathering attendee).

Aww, I think it's cute. And you totally don't look like a boy. But I get that "I hate this haircut and it will NEVER EVER GROW OUT EVER" feeling.
I have to say, you currently have the cut that I would LOVE to get except that when I go above my shoulders I not only look 12, but it highlights my lack of jawline, which I am super self-conscious about. So I'm a little jealous of your hair even if you hate it.

Long time stalker, I think its super cute, but just to give you some info, a biotene supplement will make your hair grow super fast! Its the vitamin that your hair and nails needs to grow. Hope that helps!

It is cute..
but I know that feeling. Have you woken up at night and just freaked out by the lack of hair on your pillow?
same thing happened to me in Sept... it's now almost dec and it has only seemed to grow a pinch. It took me a month to be able to even look at my hair in the back.
sorry, I suppose that does not help.
hang in there
I want to go back and get rid of my longer in the front peices and go more blunt.. but I am so afraid now.

Manda
I am curious.. will you go back to this stylist?
I am wavering if I should find a new stylist or go back to my stylist who cut my hair too short.. she gave me a good cut.. just about 2 inches shorter than I had planned. But I just showed her a pic I liked and said " i trust you"....
never say that
